Choosing a good school in Miami or California or Texas, please help me.

Hi Guys,
I need your help and experience to find out a nice flight school in Miami or California or Texas. I live in New York City since 4 years and trying to save some money to pay my training from 0 to Hero (just kidding!!) from 0 to CFI CFII MEI. I'm looking for a good school with a ratio of good price, nice place, good instructors, good reputation, good planes and well maintained. I need to trust the school and want to work as an instructor to get at least my 1500 total flying hours.
My plan is to get all my certificates from zero to CFI CFII MEI within 2 years MAX and get an instructor job in the school to get the 1500 hours within 1 or 1year and half then find a job in any regional and get the 2500 Jet flight hours and find a First Officer position in any major.

My budget is between 80 to 100K (housing included), Hopefully I can find a part time job to pay my bills (food,cell....etc).

Any student or anybody can recommend me a good school please? I'm planning to start by next summer (August 2015)

Thank you,
Regards,

Salut,

you will find equally good flight flight schools in any of those states. The question of interest, really, is where would you like to live for the next 3 years? Then, look for a school in that area.
It is hard for any of us to guide you to a specific school, as your personal interests are, well, personal.
I assume you already are a resident, so any flight club (if you are not a citizen ie green card holder, your instructor has to be registered as a training provider with the TSA) will do.

Keep us posted!

Thank you excelaviation for your feedback,

I spoke with some members from this forum and they advised me to go to Texas or Arizona. They said for 80K I can do my PPL IR ME CPL CFI CFII MEI. I've checked Chandler Aviation school in Arizona and I like their program (if it's true of course). the total cost is : $60,462.00 (maybe a little bit more)

Total Hours: 310
PIC: 50 hours
Multi: 23
Instrument: 52

Excelaviation I agree with you about the location: Cali and Miami are just awesome! I can study, work part time and enjoy the beach but most schools are expensive, I was thinking to join Phoenix East Aviation as I've a friend who attended this school and provided a very good feedback but they are expensive ( they're next to Embryriddle Univ) on DaytonaBeach. I've also to think about the cost of living: most likely the rent because the food is not expensive and maybe I need to buy a car (used one) to work part time.

In Miami with 80K I can just do the training but in TX or AZ I can do it for 20K less. I think I'm heading to AZ or TX skymates in TX is good but Chandler is better. I just need to make sure I can get an instructor job in the end of my training. (cauz I still need to build my hours 1200 more hours).

I will go and visit the school in AZ and TX and take a final decision.

Just a reminder after I will finish my training and end up with 300 hours I still need to have the following hours:

• 200 Hours Cross Country
• 27 Hours Multi
• 20 Hours Instrument
• 100 Hours Nighttime
• 853 Hours (anything solo or dual, single or multi)

Then Restricted Operator’s Permit and ATP certificate and take the ICAO English test if I want to work for international Majors.

Salut,

Yes, Skymates in TX seems to be a good school. Chti will probably have more info on them than I have.

I think you have thought of everything! Check out SAA in San Diego, they might not be a huge price difference, however, like you said, cost of living is higher in CA. In the end, it's all about a personal choice! But from the schools you mentioned, they have good reputation around here...

Good going! Already an MBA and now wanting to pursue flying as a career? I guess the sky is the limit for you. May I ask if you did a one-year MBA program or a full program?
